Caoyu Studio Welcomes You!
"Caoyu" is not a typical name. Pronounced as "tsow" as in "wow" with a "ts" and "you". It is named for my two guimi - Chinese for "best girlfriend" - their nicknames being Xiao Cao, 小草，given name Ding Weiran 丁蔚然; and Yu Momo， 鱼沫沫，given name Ouyang Yumeng 欧阳雨梦. They were my two closest classmates in my MFA program at Tsinghua University in Beijing. For the three years of the program, we did everything together, and if it wasn't for them I would not have been as successful as I was at the program. Cao means grass and Yu means fish, so the name "Caoyu" means Grassfish, hence the inspiration for the logo. However, when I write the name in Chinese, I tend to write 草雨, which means rainy grass. The characters 雨 and 鱼, are homonyms, they are both pronounced "yu".
